Common questions

How much does flooring installation cost per square foot in 2026?

LVP runs $4-$9/sqft installed. Solid hardwood is $8-$15/sqft. Ceramic tile is $5-$11/sqft. Labor alone is typically $2-$5/sqft depending on the material and layout complexity.

How much waste should I add?

Standard straight-lay patterns need about 10% waste for cuts, defects, and future repairs. Diagonal or herringbone layouts need 15-20%. Buying too little means a mismatched dye lot on the reorder.

Is LVP or hardwood better for resale value?

Hardwood adds more appraised value, but LVP has nearly eliminated the gap in buyer perception. For kitchens and bathrooms, LVP wins on durability. LVP's cost advantage also leaves budget for other upgrades.
